M2eclipse updating maven dependencies

I have a question to ask: Is it compulsary to install Apache Maven in addition to M2Eclipse plugin to checkout the trunk code and import it succesfully?

There is a message Updating maven dependencies (Blocked: The user operation is waiting for Importing maven project to finish) with a lock mark. In general with maven projects there are a lot of downloads required.Developers or Automation testers face a common problem while using versions of JAR’s/dependencies as all of their code is placed in Eclipse, Intelli J.As per research by the International Journal of Computer Techniques, 65% of programmers use Eclipse as their IDE and out of them, more than 65% uses Maven as their build tool.This issue can be solved by standardizing the dependency version for all.Maven is widely used for dependency management in Java.
